About the School of Medicine
National Yang-Ming Medical College was founded in 1975, with the School of Medicine being its earliest established school. At its inception, the School was created to support the government's goal of establishing National Yang-Ming Medical College to cultivate “medical professionals dedicated to serving the public,” and to advance the government's public health policy through the public physician system. Its primary mission was therefore to train government-funded physicians to serve in remote and underserved areas. From 1975 to 2009, the School produced numerous mission-driven government-funded physicians who actively contributed to the implementation of national health and medical policies, achieving outstanding accomplishments.
