2026 Global Health Innovation Grand Challenge

Student innovators/trainee teams are invited to submit a project proposal for a chance to compete in the Global Health Innovation Grand Challenge competition in Taiwan!

This prestigious event brings together university students from around the world to develop solutions to some of the most pressing challenges in health care as part of the 2026 Global Summit of the Global Consortium of Innovation and Engineering in Medicine (GCIEM). The semi-finals and finals of the competition will be held in Taipei, Taiwan, from April 10-12, 2026.

Innovative solutions should address a global health challenge in one of these categories:

  • Next-Generation Medical Devices for Global Health
  • Smart Health Systems & Data-Driven Care
  • Engineering for Infectious Disease Prevention & Control
  • Health Resilience in a Changing Climate

Application Process

  • Eligible participants include interdisciplinary teams of students, engineers, researchers, and innovators from member institutions.
  • Teams are encouraged to review the Request for Proposals (RFP) and utilize resources available in the online Resource Library.
  • Complete proposals should be submitted to the Grand Challenge Submission Portal.
  • Submission Deadline: January 1, 2026
